About Gonstead care

What is Gonstead chiropractic?

The Gonstead System is a specific method of chiropractic care that focuses on finding and correcting spinal misalignments that may interfere with the nervous system. Gonstead chiropractors use detailed analysis, including health history, visualization, instrumentation, motion palpation, and static palpation, to determine where adjustments are needed.

What makes Gonstead different from other chiropractic techniques?

Gonstead care emphasizes precise analysis and specific adjustments. Rather than adjusting multiple areas routinely, each adjustment is based on findings from a thorough examination to address the underlying cause of dysfunction.

Do I need to be in pain to benefit from chiropractic care?

No, many patients choose chiropractic care as part of a proactive wellness lifestyle. Because the nervous system controls every function in the body, maintaining proper spinal health can help support overall function and quality of life.

How does chiropractic care support nervous system function?

Chiropractic care focuses on identifying and correcting spinal dysfunction that may contribute to stress or dysfunction within the nervous system. This stress prevents the nervous system from providing efficient communication between your brain and the rest of your body. Through specific chiropractic adjustments, we aim to restore proper spinal motion and support healthy communication between the brain and body.

Why is the nervous system so important to my health?

The nervous system coordinates and controls every organ, tissue, and cell in the body. Gonstead chiropractic care focuses on helping the spine support optimal nervous system function.

Your first visit

Will I be adjusted on my first visit?

Your chiropractor will first determine whether an adjustment is appropriate and safe based on your examination findings, or if additional examination, study, or referral is necessary.

Do you take X-rays?

When clinically necessary, X-rays may be recommended to help evaluate the spine and guide care decisions.

How many visits will I need?

The number of visits varies depending on your health goals, the nature of your condition, and how long it has been present. We will discuss recommendations after completing your examination.

Is the "popping" sound necessary for an adjustment?

No, the sound sometimes heard during an adjustment is simply gas being released from a joint. A successful adjustment does not depend on hearing a popping sound.

Children & pregnancy

Do you see children?

Yes. Chiropractic care can be adapted for patients of all ages, from infants to seniors. Pediatric adjustments use gentle, age-appropriate techniques. Kids are often the ones who need chiropractic the most!

Do you care for pregnant women?

Yes. Chiropractic care during pregnancy helps support comfort, mobility, and pelvic balance for mom while also aiding in proper growth and development for baby. Adjustments are modified to accommodate each stage of pregnancy.
